A prominent\u00a0child actor\u00a0of the 1990s and a prolific figure in major studio features of the early 2000s,\u00a0he earned accolades\u00a0including two\u00a0Saturn Awards\u00a0and a\u00a0Screen Actors Guild Award, in addition to a nomination for a\u00a0Daytime Emmy Award.<\/p>\n<p>Wood made his film debut with a minor part in\u00a0Back to the Future Part II\u00a0(1989) at the age of eight and achieved recognition in the early 1990s as a\u00a0child actor\u00a0with roles such as\u00a0Avalon\u00a0(1990),\u00a0Forever Young\u00a0(1992),\u00a0The Adventures of Huck Finn\u00a0(1993), and\u00a0The Good Son\u00a0(1993). As a teenager, he starred in the films\u00a0North\u00a0(1994),\u00a0The War\u00a0(1994),\u00a0Flipper\u00a0(1996),\u00a0The Ice Storm\u00a0(1997),\u00a0Deep Impact\u00a0(1998), and\u00a0The Faculty\u00a0(1998). Wood achieved international fame in the early 2000s for playing the hobbit\u00a0Frodo Baggins\u00a0in\u00a0Peter Jackson&#8217;s\u00a0The Lord of the Rings\u00a0film trilogy(2001\u20132003), based on the classic fantasy\u00a0novel of the same name\u00a0by English author\u00a0J. R. R. Tolkien.<\/p>\n<p>As an adult, Wood appeared in a wide range of films, including\u00a0Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind\u00a0(2004),\u00a0Sin City\u00a0(2005), and\u00a0I Don&#8217;t Feel at Home in This World Anymore\u00a0(2017). He has had voice roles in projects such as\u00a0Happy Feet\u00a0(2006),\u00a0The Legend of Spyro\u00a0(2006\u20132008),\u00a09\u00a0(2009),\u00a0Tron: Uprising\u00a0(2012\u20132013), and\u00a0Over the Garden Wall (2014). On television, Wood starred in the series\u00a0Wilfred\u00a0(2011\u20132014),\u00a0Dirk Gently&#8217;s Holistic Detective Agency\u00a0(2016\u20132017), and\u00a0Yellowjackets (2023\u20132025).<\/p>\n<p>Wood founded the record label\u00a0Simian Records\u00a0in 2005, which was dissolved in 2015. He directed the 2007 music video &#8220;Energy&#8221; for\u00a0The Apples in Stereo. In 2010, Wood co-founded a horror film production company, The Woodshed, which was renamed\u00a0SpectreVision\u00a0in 2014.
