Grant Major\u00a0(born 1955) is a\u00a0production designer from New Zealand who is most famous for his work on\u00a0The Lord of the Rings\u00a0films. He won the\u00a0Academy Award for Best Art Direction\u00a0for\u00a0The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.<\/p>\n
Major’s early exposure to production design began when he joined an art school in\u00a0Auckland\u00a0after graduating. Following this, he got a job as an assistant set designer at the local television station.<\/p>\n
