Jameela Alia Jamil\u00a0(born 25 February 1986) is a British actress, activist and presenter. She began her career on\u00a0Channel 4, where she hosted a pop culture series in the\u00a0T4\u00a0strand from 2009 until 2012. She then became The Official Chart’s radio host and co-hosted\u00a0The Official Chart Update\u00a0alongside\u00a0Scott Mills\u00a0on\u00a0BBC Radio 1. She was the first regular solo female presenter of the BBC Radio 1 chart show.<\/p>\n
In 2016, Jamil moved to the United States. She played Tahani Al-Jamil in the\u00a0NBC\u00a0fantasy comedy series\u00a0The Good Place.\u00a0She also hosted the TBS late-night game show\u00a0The Misery Index and was one of the judges of the\u00a0voguing\u00a0reality competition show\u00a0Legendary. In 2022, Jamil worked on two\u00a0superhero\u00a0projects: the animated film\u00a0DC League of Super-Pets\u00a0and the live-action television series\u00a0She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Since 2022, she has voiced Asencia in the Star Trek: Prodigy science fiction series.<\/p>\n
