Domee Shi\u00a0(born September 8, 1989) is a Canadian animator, film director, and screenwriter. She has directed the short film\u00a0Bao\u00a0(2018), the feature film\u00a0Turning Red\u00a0(2022), and\u00a0Elio\u00a0(2025), becoming the first woman to direct a short film and then the first woman with sole director’s credit on a feature film for\u00a0Pixar.<\/p>\n
Shi began working for Pixar in 2011 as a\u00a0storyboard artist. She contributed to multiple films, including\u00a0Inside Out\u00a0(2015),\u00a0The Good Dinosaur (2015), and\u00a0Toy Story 4\u00a0(2019). She was also an additional story artist for\u00a0Incredibles 2\u00a0(2018).<\/p>\n
For\u00a0Bao, Shi won an\u00a0Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film\u00a0at the\u00a091st Academy Awards and also earned nominations for the\u00a043rd Annie Awards, the International Online Cinema Awards, and the\u00a0Tribeca Film Festival.\u00a0She was also nominated for the\u00a0Academy Award for Best Animated Feature\u00a0for\u00a0Turning Red.<\/p>\n
