Edgar Howard Wright\u00a0(born 18 April 1974) is an English filmmaker. He is known for his fast-paced and kinetic, satirical\u00a0genre films, which feature extensive utilisation of expressive popular music,\u00a0Steadicam\u00a0tracking shots,\u00a0dolly zooms\u00a0and a signature editing style that includes transitions,\u00a0whip pans\u00a0and wipes.\u00a0He first made independent short films before making his first feature film, A Fistful of Fingers, in 1995. Wright created and directed the comedy series\u00a0Asylum\u00a0in 1996, written with\u00a0David Walliams. After directing several other television shows, Wright directed the sitcom\u00a0Spaced\u00a0(1999\u20132001), which aired for two series and starred frequent collaborators\u00a0Simon Pegg and\u00a0Nick Frost.<\/p>\n
In 2004, Wright directed the zombie comedy\u00a0Shaun of the Dead,\u00a0starring Pegg and Frost, the first film in Wright’s\u00a0Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy. The film was co-written with Pegg\u2014as were the next two entries in the trilogy, the\u00a0buddy cop\u00a0film\u00a0Hot Fuzz\u00a0(2007) and the science fiction comedy\u00a0The World’s End\u00a0(2013). In 2010, Wright co-wrote and directed the action comedy film\u00a0Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, an adaptation of\u00a0the graphic novel series. Along with\u00a0Joe Cornish\u00a0and\u00a0Steven Moffat, he adapted\u00a0The Adventures of Tintin\u00a0(2011) for\u00a0Steven Spielberg. Wright and Cornish co-wrote the screenplay for the\u00a0Marvel Cinematic Universe\u00a0film\u00a0Ant-Man\u00a0in 2015, which Wright intended to direct but abandoned, citing creative differences. He has also written and directed the action film\u00a0Baby Driver\u00a0(2017), the documentary\u00a0The Sparks Brothers,\u00a0and the psychological horror film\u00a0Last Night in Soho\u00a0(both 2021).<\/p>\n
