Seamus McGarvey\u00a0(born 29 June 1967) is a cinematographer from\u00a0Armagh, Northern Ireland. He lives in Tuscany, Italy.<\/p>\n
He has received two\u00a0Academy Award\u00a0nominations for his cinematography in\u00a0Joe Wright’s 2007 drama\u00a0Atonement\u00a0and his\u00a02012 adaptation\u00a0of\u00a0Leo Tolstoy’s novel\u00a0Anna Karenina.<\/p>\n
In addition to the Oscar nominations, McGarvey won the\u00a0British Society of Cinematographers (B.S.C.) award for\u00a0Anna Karenina\u00a0and\u00a0Nocturnal Animals, as well as a nomination for\u00a0Atonement, and earned\u00a0BAFTA\u00a0nominations for Atonement, Anna Karenina and Nocturnal Animals. He received\u00a0A.S.C.\u00a0nods for Atonement and Anna Karenina.\u00a0Atonement\u00a0earned him nominations for the\u00a0British Independent Film Award, the\u00a0Chicago Film Critics Association\u00a0and the\u00a0Online Film Critics Society, and he received the top honour from the Phoenix Film Critics Society.<\/p>\n
McGarvey has won three\u00a0Evening Standard British Film Awards\u00a0for\u00a0Atonement,\u00a0Anna Karenina and\u00a0Stephen Daldry’s\u00a0The Hours\u00a0and six\u00a0Irish Film & Television Awards\u00a0for\u00a0Atonement,\u00a0Anna Karenina,\u00a0Sahara, and\u00a0We Need to Talk About Kevin,\u00a0Nocturnal Animals\u00a0and\u00a0The Greatest Showman. In 2004, he was awarded the\u00a0Royal Photographic Society’s prestigious Lumiere Medal, with\u00a0Jack Cardiff,\u00a0Freddie Francis,\u00a0Roger Deakins, and\u00a0Ridley Scott, for contributions to the art of cinematography.<\/p>\n
