Mckenna Grace\u00a0Burge (born June 25, 2006) is an American actress and singer. Born in\u00a0Grapevine, Texas, she began acting professionally at age five and relocated to Los Angeles, California, as a child. Her earliest roles included Jasmine Bernstein in the\u00a0Disney XD\u00a0sitcom\u00a0Crash & Bernstein\u00a0(2012\u20132014) and\u00a0Faith Newman\u00a0in the soap opera\u00a0The Young and the Restless\u00a0(2013\u20132015). After several minor roles, she starred as a child prodigy in\u00a0Gifted\u00a0(2017), a breakthrough for which she received the\u00a0Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer.<\/p>\n
Grace subsequently appeared in the films\u00a0I, Tonya\u00a0(2017),\u00a0Troop Zero\u00a0(2019), and\u00a0Captain Marvel\u00a0(2019). During this time, she appeared in several horror projects, including\u00a0The Bad Seed(2018),\u00a0The Haunting of Hill House\u00a0(2018), and\u00a0Annabelle Comes Home\u00a0(2019). For playing the abused teenager Esther Keyes in\u00a0The Handmaid’s Tale\u00a0(2021\u20132022), Grace was nominated for the\u00a0Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, making her the first child recognized for a guest acting Emmy. She appeared in the supernatural comedy films\u00a0Ghostbusters: Afterlife\u00a0(2021) and\u00a0Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire\u00a0(2024) as\u00a0Phoebe Spengler, receiving critical praise and a\u00a0Critics’ Choice Super Award\u00a0nomination. In 2022, Grace wrote, executive produced, starred in\u00a0The Bad Seed Returns and portrayed\u00a0Jan Broberg\u00a0in\u00a0A Friend of the Family.<\/p>\n
After signing with\u00a0Photo Finish Records\u00a0in 2020, Grace released her debut single, “Haunted House”, in 2021 as part of the\u00a0Ghostbusters: Afterlife\u00a0soundtrack. She released two extended plays in 2023:\u00a0Bittersweet 16\u00a0and\u00a0Autumn Leaves, which explored\u00a0pop rock\u00a0and\u00a0folk\u00a0sounds, respectively.<\/p>\n
