David Kenneth Harbour\u00a0(born April 10, 1975) is an American actor. He has received nominations for a\u00a0Tony Award, a\u00a0Golden Globe Award, and two\u00a0Primetime Emmy Awards.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He began his career acting in\u00a0Shakespearean theatre productions. After his professional debut on\u00a0Broadway\u00a0in the 1999 revival of\u00a0The Rainmaker, he was nominated for a\u00a0Tony Award for his performance in a production of\u00a0Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.\u00a0He made his television debut on\u00a0Law & Order\u00a0in 1999 and had supporting roles in films such as\u00a0Brokeback Mountain\u00a0(2005),\u00a0Revolutionary Road\u00a0(2008) and\u00a0Black Mass (2015).<\/p>\n
Harbour gained global recognition for his portrayal of\u00a0Jim Hopper\u00a0in the\u00a0Netflix\u00a0science fiction series\u00a0Stranger Things\u00a0(2016\u2013present), for which he received a\u00a0Critics’ Choice Television Award\u00a0as well as nominations for two\u00a0Primetime Emmy Awards. His starring film roles include the\u00a0title character\u00a0in\u00a0Hellboy\u00a0(2019),\u00a0Santa Claus\u00a0in\u00a0Violent Night (2022) and a former racer in the sports film\u00a0Gran Turismo\u00a0(2023). Harbour has played\u00a0Red Guardian\u00a0in the\u00a0Marvel Cinematic Universe\u00a0media franchise, beginning with the film\u00a0Black Widow\u00a0(2021).<\/p>\n
