Taika David Cohen\u00a0ONZM\u00a0(born 16 August 1975), known professionally as\u00a0Taika Waititi(\/\u02c8ta\u026ak\u0259\u00a0\u02c8wa\u026at\u026ati\/\u00a0TY-k\u0259\u00a0WY-tee-tee),\u00a0is a New Zealand filmmaker, actor and comedian. He is known for directing quirky comedy films and has expanded his career as a voice actor and producer on numerous projects. He has received multiple accolades, including an\u00a0Academy Award, a\u00a0BAFTA Award\u00a0and a\u00a0Grammy Award.\u00a0Time\u00a0magazine named him one of the\u00a0100 most influential people in the world\u00a0in 2022.<\/p>\n
His feature films\u00a0Boy\u00a0(2010) and\u00a0Hunt for the Wilderpeople\u00a0(2016) have each been the top-grossing New Zealand film. Waititi’s 2003 short film\u00a0Two Cars, One Night\u00a0earned him an Academy Award nomination for\u00a0Best Live Action Short Film. He co-wrote, co-directed and starred in the\u00a0horror comedy\u00a0film\u00a0What We Do in the Shadows\u00a0(2014) with\u00a0Jemaine Clement, which was adapted into a\u00a0television series of the same name\u00a0in 2019.
