He is best known for his roles as\u00a0Black Manta\u00a0in the superhero films\u00a0Aquaman\u00a0(2018) and\u00a0Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom\u00a0(2023),\u00a0Bobby Seale\u00a0in the\u00a0Netflix historical legal drama\u00a0The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020), and\u00a0Morpheus\u00a0\/\u00a0Agent Smith\u00a0in\u00a0The Matrix Resurrections\u00a0(2021). For his portrayal of Cal Abar \/\u00a0Doctor Manhattan\u00a0in the\u00a0HBO\u00a0limited series Watchmen\u00a0(2019), he won a\u00a0Primetime Emmy Award. He also starred in episodes of\u00a0The Handmaid’s Tale\u00a0(2018) and\u00a0Black Mirror\u00a0(2019).<\/p>\n
He made his\u00a0Broadway\u00a0debut in the\u00a0Suzan-Lori Parks\u00a0play\u00a0Topdog\/Underdog,\u00a0for which he received a\u00a0Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play nomination.
