Tiffany J. Johnson is a television director. She trained in the American Film Institute\u2019s Directing Workshop for Women, where she directed the short film\u00a0Marabou. Her first short,\u00a0Ladylike, a collaboration with Nicholas P. Williams, screened at multiple festivals and won the Director\u2019s Choice Award at the Diversity in Cannes showcase. Over time, she has built a reputation for bringing stylised visual storytelling and perspectives centred on Black characters to film and television.<\/p>\n
In television, Johnson has directed episodes for series such as\u00a0Black Monday\u00a0(2019),\u00a0Dear White People\u00a0(2017),\u00a0Boomerang\u00a0(2019),\u00a0Twenties\u00a0(2020),\u00a0The Last O.G.\u00a0(2018), and\u00a0SOLOS\u00a0(2021). In\u00a0How to Die Alone\u00a0(2024), she directed episode five, \u201cTrust No One,\u201d and another episode in the season.<\/p>\n
Johnson has also directed and produced short and digital series work. Her short\u00a0Girl Callin\u2019\u00a0(2020) was nominated for Best U.S. Short at Palm Springs International ShortFest. The digital series\u00a0Girls Room\u00a0(2020) won the Tribeca X Award for Best Episodic Short Series.
