David Michael Bautista Jr.\u00a0(born January 18, 1969) is an American actor and retired\u00a0professional wrestler. Regarded as one of his generation’s most prolific professional wrestlers, he rose to fame for his multiple stints in\u00a0WWE\u00a0between 2002 and 2019.<\/p>\n
Bautista began his wrestling career in 1999 and signed with\u00a0WWE\u00a0(then WWF) in 2000. From 2002 to 2010, he gained fame under the\u00a0ring name\u00a0Batista, initially as a member of\u00a0Evolution. He would go on to win the\u00a0WWE Championship twice, the\u00a0World Heavyweight Championship\u00a0four times (with his first reign remaining the\u00a0longest in history\u00a0at 282 days), the\u00a0World Tag Team Championship\u00a0three times (twice with\u00a0Ric Flair and once with\u00a0John Cena), and the\u00a0WWE Tag Team Championship\u00a0once (with\u00a0Rey Mysterio). He also won the\u00a02005\u00a0and\u00a02014\u00a0Royal Rumble matches and subsequently headlined\u00a0WrestleMania 21\u00a0and\u00a0WrestleMania XXX, with the former being one of the top five highest-grossing PPV events in wrestling history. Having largely stepped back from professional wrestling in 2020, he retired after\u00a0WrestleMania 35\u00a0in 2019.<\/p>\n
As an actor, Bautista is known for portraying\u00a0Drax in the\u00a0Marvel Cinematic Universe\u00a0(2014\u20132023) and\u00a0Rabban\u00a0in\u00a0Dune\u00a0(2021) and\u00a0its 2024 sequel.
