It&#8217;s like Hollywood decided to raid its own attic and call it &#8220;innovation.&#8221; But hey, more content for us to snark about, right? \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s the rundown of what&#8217;s currently buzzing (or limping along) in the world of TV and movies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The TV Landscape: More of the Same (But Hopefully Good Same?)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Returning Heavy Hitters:<\/strong> Get ready for more stress-eating and yelling, because <strong>The Bear Season 4<\/strong> is dropping this month. Also, <strong>Squid Game Season 3<\/strong> is hitting Netflix, which means more existential dread wrapped in brightly colored tracksuits. And for those who enjoy opulent drama, <strong>The Gilded Age Season 3<\/strong> is back on HBO. We&#8217;re also seeing <strong>Ginny &amp; Georgia Season 3<\/strong> and <strong>FUBAR Season 2<\/strong> (yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger is still doing action-comedy, bless his heart) making their returns. Our money&#8217;s on a mixed bag, because, well, <em>Hollywood<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Newcomers Trying to Break Through:<\/strong> Keep an eye out for <strong>Ironheart<\/strong> (Marvel&#8217;s latest attempt to make us care about a new hero on Disney+), <strong>Stick<\/strong> (a golf comedy with Owen Wilson on Apple TV+ \u2013 because <em>Happy Gilmore 2<\/em> wasn&#8217;t enough golf, apparently), you be the judge by checking out our <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/2025\/06\/04\/happy-gilmore-2-cinesist-trailer-breakdown\/\">reaction to Happy Gilmore 2 Trailer<\/a> and <strong>Murderbot<\/strong> (an Apple TV+ sci-fi series that sounds exactly like our spirit animal: a rogue security robot who just wants to binge bad TV).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Movie Scene: Sequels, Spinoffs, and&#8230; More Sequels!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Franchise Fatigue is Real:<\/strong> If you thought Hollywood was done milking its cash cows, think again. We&#8217;ve got <strong>From the World of John Wick: Ballerina<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/2025\/05\/18\/ballerina-wick-teaser-breakdown\/\">which we have shared our expectations<\/a> (because who needs Keanu when you can have Ana de Armas doing ballet-fu?), and a live-action <strong>How to Train Your Dragon<\/strong> remake. Because nothing says &#8220;original storytelling&#8221; like remaking animated classics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Big Names, Big Questions:<\/strong> Brad Pitt is hitting the track in the F1 racing movie <strong>F1<\/strong>, and Ryan Coogler is delving into horror with <strong>Sinners<\/strong>. We&#8217;re cautiously optimistic (deeply skeptical) about how many of these will actually stick the landing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Unexpected Buzz:<\/strong> There&#8217;s also some chatter around <strong>Materialists<\/strong> (a romantic comedy with a surprisingly stacked cast including Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans), and <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/snarkive\/movie\/novocaine-2025\/\" data-type=\"movie\" data-id=\"1000044462\"><strong>Novocaine<\/strong> <\/a>starring Jack Quaid (our favorite <em>The Boys<\/em> alum) <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/2025\/06\/04\/novocaine-movie-review\/\">which we have reviewed<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Overall Cinesist Take:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s clear that the streaming wars are still raging, and studios are hedging their bets by leaning heavily on established (or easily recognizable) IPs. There&#8217;s a lot of quantity, but we&#8217;re still waiting to see if the quality matches.
