You&#8217;ve got movie star <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/snarkive\/person\/john-cena\/\">John Cena<\/a> as a President (ughh, Will Derringer) and <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/snarkive\/person\/idris-elba\/\">Idris Elba<\/a> as a Prime Minister who definitely doesn&#8217;t like Derringer. What could possibly go wrong when two world leaders who can&#8217;t stand each other are forced into an action flick ride? Her surveillance and capture mission? A total bust! Turns out, the real target was Paddy (Viktor Gradov, obviously not <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/snarkive\/person\/paddy-considine\/\">Paddy Considine<\/a>, but awesome to see him!). Suddenly, black ops surveillance goes uhhh oh!, and our two bickering NATO leaders find themselves crash-chute landing in hostile territory. That&#8217;s not good! (Don&#8217;t worry, we saw the bad stuff happening though, because plot.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bad guys, naturally, get their hands on the Black Ops Surveillance system&#8230; shrug \ud83e\udd37\u200d\u2642\ufe0f. Their interesting relationship makes you wonder if they really like each other off-screen, and that chemistry is pure gold. Paddy Considine (as Viktor Gradoff) shows ferocity handling a failed crew member \u2013 wow! Jack Quaid (Novocaine review, remember?) literally lives for this stuff, and he did a much better job in this movie than just being The Boys&#8217; punching bag. Chopra leans into female lead-ish energy and really kicks some ass! The characters were well fleshed out, not oversaturated with unneeded players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"script-shakespeare-or-sh-tpost\"><strong>\ud83d\udcdd Script \u2013 Shakespeare or Sh*tpost?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More Sh*tpost than Shakespeare, but in the best possible way! The puns and one-liners are a good touch (&#8220;Everything Harpoons for a reason!!&#8221; Lmao!!). The triple crosses keep you guessing (or at least mildly entertained). Plus, Idris&#8217; character likes actual cinema like us! This movie literally lives for this stuff, delivering <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/snarkive\/genre\/action\/\">non-stop action<\/a> and plot twists that are just ridiculous enough to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking of Action, did you know you can browse our Snarkive by Genre!! Gun-play was just that&#8230; playful, in the most explosive and satisfying way. Lots of bad guys died (which is always a great thing!). The fight scenes were alright, they looked well thought out and put together, like a brutal ballet of destruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pacing-thrill-ride-or-nyquil\"><strong>\u23f1\ufe0f Pacing \u2013 Thrill Ride or Nyquil?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Definitely a Thrill Ride! This movie is high octane from start to finish. The music had a nice touch, relevant for pacing, keeping the energy up. It&#8217;s a non-stop action romp, even when two NATO leaders crash-chute landing in hostile territory (we saw the bad stuff happening though!). There&#8217;s a stand-off where the eye knows exactly where they are&#8230; because plot&#8230; duh!!, but who cares when it&#8217;s this much fun?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"dear-viewer\"><strong>\ud83e\ude9e Dear Viewer&#8230;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look, Cine-freaks, you&#8217;re not watching <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/snarkive\/movie\/heads-of-state\/\">Heads of State<\/a> for deep philosophical insights or Oscar-worthy drama. You&#8217;re watching it for John Cena throwing punches and Idris Elba looking impossibly cool while stuff explodes. And DAMN RIGHT, it delivers! Don&#8217;t overthink it; just lean back and enjoy the diplomatic savagery!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"who-s-this-for\"><strong>\ud83c\udfaf Who\u2019s This For?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Die-hard John Cena and Idris Elba fans (you know who you are)<br>\u2022 People who like chaos and explosions over coherent plots<br>\u2022 Anyone who misses 90s action flicks with big stars and even bigger explosions<br>\u2022 Your ex (they deserve this chaotic masterpiece)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"deep-ish-thoughts\"><strong>\ud83e\udde0 Deep(ish) Thoughts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This movie had a mixture of White House Down and London Has Fallen meets Die Hard vibes (Looking at you, <a href=\"https:\/\/cinesist.com\/snarkive\/person\/bruce-willis\/\">Bruce Willis<\/a>&#8230; yippie kayea!!). It&#8217;s a testament to the chemistry between Idris and Cena that they were key players, and add Chopra and Paddy to the mix and it becomes a hydra of excellence. Sure, there&#8217;s a get lucky fight scene where all sorts of things happen in Deringer&#8217;s favor (because plot, duh!), and the bad guys got the Black Ops Surveillance system (shrug \ud83e\udd37\u200d\u2642\ufe0f), but who cares when Cena has an \u2018utterly\u2019 fantastic time and the shotgun goes BOoM! again?
