Xbox Game Pass: July 2025 Games! 🎮 Play or Pay?

Alright, Cine-freaks and controller warriors! It’s that time of the month where we reluctantly (or eagerly, depending on your level of optimism) peek into the Xbox Game Pass vault. This month, the offerings are… well, they’re there. We’re talking about the service that desperately wants to be the Netflix of gaming, but often feels more like a digital garage sale with a revolving door. So, strap in, because we’re about to unleash some unfiltered truth on what’s coming in July 2025!

The Rare Gems (or at least, less dusty rocks)

First, let’s talk about the few titles that actually sparked a flicker of interest in our jaded gamer souls.

Rise of the Tomb Raider (July 1) is making a glorious return! This was an excellent addition to an already amazing franchise, and we’re glad it’s coming back! Lara Croft’s supernatural shenanigans on Yamatai were supposedly covered up by an organization known as Trinity, but we know the truth! The good news? This game delivers an engaging story with compelling characters, an immersive world that’s prettier than a Hollywood red carpet, and expedition modes that actually make you want to keep playing! Welcome back, Lara, we missed your questionable archeological ethics!

Then we have High on Life (July 15 *Thats my Birthday!). This game is a surprising addition and definitely breaks the mold for crazy video game entertainment. Why? Because it’s from the twisted, chaotic mind of the Co-Creator of Rick & Morty and Solar Opposites! Fresh out of high school with no job and no ambition, you’ve really got nothing going for you until an alien cartel that wants to get high off humanity invades Earth. Now, you and a team of charismatic talking guns must answer the hero’s call and become the deadliest intergalactic bounty hunter the cosmos has ever seen. What could possibly go wrong? Everything, and we’re here for it!

Lara Croft’s back, still raiding tombs and probably questioning her life choices. At least the graphics are good! 🏹✨
From the twisted minds behind Rick & Morty, comes a game where guns talk and aliens get high off humanity. What could possibly go wrong? 👽🔫

    The Other Stuff (Literally)

And now, for the rest of the July lineup. Don’t get too excited, Cine-freaks. This is where Game Pass often feels like it’s scraping the bottom of the digital barrel. We’re not even going to bother with platforms because, honestly, who cares when the games might vanish next month?

    • Little Nightmares 2: More creepy kids and unsettling monsters. Perfect for your next existential crisis.
    • Legend of Mana: A classic RPG. Dust off your nostalgia goggles, because it’s probably still as confusing as ever.
    • Trials of Mana: Another Mana game. Hope you like grinding, because that’s what these do best.
    • Ultimate Chicken Horse: Build a platformer, then betray your friends. Sounds like a typical family game night.
    • The Ascent: Cyberpunk action-RPG. Looks cool, probably runs like a potato on your old Xbox.
    • Minami Lane: Cozy life sim. For when you need a break from the existential dread of real life.
    • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4: Skateboarding games that actually matter. Still better than your real-life ollie.
    • Abiotic Factor: Sci-fi survival. Hope you like crafting and dying repeatedly.
    • Wheel World: Cycling adventure. For those who enjoy digital cardio without the actual sweat.
    • Wuchang: Fallen Feathers: Souls-like action. Prepare to die. A lot. Like, a lot a lot.
    • Grounded 2 – Early Access: Shrink yourself and survive(Didn’t they make a movie about this exact concept..Oh yea!! Honey I shrunk the Kids!). Still waiting for the full release, just like our patience.

The Verdict: Xbox Game Pass – Netflix of Gaming or Digital Disappointment?

Let’s be real, Xbox Game Pass desperately wants to be the Netflix of gaming, but with the constant removal of titles and the different tiers for more or extra content, it’s just plain silly! You can’t get into a game and then have it taken away a month later! It’s infuriating and just mean. We’re looking at you, Microsoft! Stop watering down your product with digital bait-and-switches and nickel-and-diming us for content that should be standard! Give us a stable library and stop pulling the rug out from under our digital feet! Our patience is thinner than a game’s day-one patch!

  • Xbox Hardware Is Dead: Microsoft’s Console Casket? 💀💸

Xbox Hardware Is Dead: Microsoft’s Console Casket? 💀💸

Alright, Cine-freaks, gather ’round the digital campfire, because we’ve got some spicy news that’s more depressing than a movie sequel nobody asked for! Remember Xbox? That plucky little console that tried to take on PlayStation? Well, one of its own founding members just dropped a truth bomb so massive, it probably caused a red ring of death in Microsoft’s boardroom. Laura Fryer, who was there at the very beginning, building the OG Xbox and the 360, has declared it: “Xbox hardware is dead.” And honestly? After looking at the numbers, we’re not entirely sure she’s wrong. Don’t shoot the messenger, Microsoft; you built the message! 😉

The Architect’s Lament: Who is Laura Fryer, Anyway?

So, who is this prophet of console doom? Laura Fryer isn’t just some random gamer with a YouTube channel; she’s one of the original founding members of the Xbox team. She was in the trenches, sweating pixels and code, bringing the original Xbox and the beloved Xbox 360 to life. Her tenure means she knows the nuts and bolts of Microsoft’s hardware ambitions better than Phil Spencer knows how to announce a new acquisition! When someone with that kind of pedigree says the hardware is flatlining, you might want to listen. She’s not just complaining; she’s mourning the erosion of value she helped create. It’s like the director of a classic film watching their masterpiece get a terrible CGI remake. The pain is palpable!

The Numbers Don’t Lie (Unlike Some Marketing Departments)

Now, let’s talk about the cold, hard, unforgiving numbers. Because while feelings are fun, sales figures are facts. And the facts, my friends, are bleaker than a black-and-white indie film about existential dread.

As of March 2025, the PlayStation 5 has sold a staggering ~75.28 million units. Xbox Series X|S? A paltry ~32.77 million. That’s a ~42.51 million unit lead for Sony. To put that in Cinesist terms, that’s like comparing a blockbuster superhero epic to a direct-to-video B-movie about sentient garden gnomes. The PS5 has nearly 70% of the market share, leaving Xbox with a measly 30%. In some recent months, the sales ratio has been a brutal 5-to-1 in Sony’s favor. Ouch.

And this isn’t a new trend, folks. The original Xbox got crushed by the PS2 (24 million vs. 157 million). The Xbox One got decimated by the PS4 (48 million vs. 114 million). It’s a consistent pattern of hardware underperformance that would make even the most optimistic studio executive sweat. Xbox hardware sales are even down year-on-year by nearly 30%! That’s not a dip; that’s a digital dive into the abyss!

    Game Pass Everywhere, Hardware Nowhere?

Fryer’s critique isn’t just about sales; it’s about strategy. She points to Microsoft’s “Xbox Anywhere” plan, betting the entire farm on Game Pass and outsourcing hardware innovation to partners like Asus. She calls it “marketing, it’s style not substance,” and a “slow exit from the hardware business completely.” And she’s not wrong.

While Game Pass is a fantastic value proposition (seriously, it is; we’re not entirely heartless), it seems Xbox has lost its way when it comes to compelling hardware and exclusive games that drive hardware sales. If you can play Xbox games on your phone, your PC, your toaster (probably next), then why buy the actual Xbox console(Especially with them jacking up the prices on all their hardware)? It feels like Microsoft is trying to be everything to everyone and, in doing so, becoming nothing to no one in the hardware space. It’s a classic Hollywood mistake: all sizzle, no steak!

    The Console Graveyard Beckons

So, when a founding member says “Xbox hardware is dead,” it’s not just hyperbole; it’s a stark, brutal assessment backed by years of under-performance and a strategic pivot that screams “we give up on the box!” The numbers don’t lie, the market share is shrinking, and even their own veterans are lamenting the decline.

Xbox might become the world’s largest publisher as some suggest (not if they make games $80 or higher like they are doing with Outer worlds 2!), but if you’re looking for cutting-edge console innovation from Microsoft, you might be waiting longer than for the next Avatar sequel. The hardware coffin seems to be getting nailed shut, one disappointing sales report at a time. Rest in pixels, little green box. We hardly knew ye… in the lead. 💀🎮

  • Xbox Price Hike: Microsoft’s Haymaker to Your Wallet! 💰🥊

Xbox Price Hike: Microsoft’s Haymaker to Your Wallet! 💰🥊

The Xbox Extortion: When “Market Conditions” Mean Your Wallet Gets Mugged

Alright, 🤯 Cine-freaks 😈, grab your controllers, but maybe don’t drop them, because replacing them is about to cost you an arm, a leg, and possibly your firstborn. Microsoft, in a move that can only be described as a Bad Decision wrapped in a Chaos burrito, has decided it’s time to hit your gaming budget with a money-grabbing haymaker of epic proportions.

They’re doing it, folks. The console price hike is no longer a whispered rumor in the dark corners of the internet. It’s here. In an announcement that probably caused more audible sighs than a Call of Duty lobby full of rage-quitters, (Speaking of Call of Duty, did you hear they announced Call of Duty 7 at Xbox Games Showcase 2025!) and Microsoft confirmed they’re jacking up prices on our beloved Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, along with controllers, and even your fancy headsets. Why, you ask? Oh, you know, the usual corporate song and dance: “market conditions” and the “expense of making games.” LAUGHING MY ASS OFF! Because apparently, making virtual worlds is now more costly than forging actual, tiny spaceships out of unobtanium.

The $79.99 Game: A New Standard of Unfiltered Opinion Pricing

And let’s not forget the games themselves! Your shiny new first-party Xbox titles? Get ready to shell out $79.99 a pop. Yes, you read that right. Eighty American dollars for a digital escape from reality. This isn’t just a price increase; it’s a Sharp Take on our willingness to pay more for the same dose of dopamine. Remember when $60 was the “outrageous” standard? Good times. We were so innocent then.

Microsoft’s justification feels as transparent as a ghost in a haunted house – utterly see-through, but still managing to spook the hell out of your bank account. They’re basically telling us, with a straight face and probably a PowerPoint presentation: “Look, it’s our job to make money. Lots of it. And if that means you have to sell a kidney to afford our next blockbuster, well, trade-offs!” This isn’t innovation; it’s financial mayhem declared upon the US the consumer.

Game Pass: The Last Oasis (For Now)?

Now, thankfully, our beloved Xbox Game Pass subscription prices remain unchanged for now. We can almost hear the collective sigh of relief, followed by the immediate, cynical thought: “for now.” Because, let’s be real, when the corporate giants start feeling froggy with prices, nothing is sacred. It’s only a matter of time before that Pure Cinematic Gold! deal gets its own “market conditions” adjustment. (I mean just look at the Golden Age of Streaming, and how that turned out!)

This isn’t just about the occasional $80 game, this is a systemic shift. When the console itself gets more expensive, the barrier to entry goes up. When the accessories become premium luxury items, it’s harder to get your friends to join your digital adventures. It’s a Bad Decision that feels less like a strategic business move and more like a Money Grab of epic proportions, hitting loyal fans where it hurts most: their wallets.

So, while Microsoft is throwing these money-grabbing haymakers, it’s time for us, 🤯 Cine-freaks 😈, to hit back with our Unfiltered Opinion! Because if we don’t, they’ll just keep punching until our wallets are flatter than a two-day-old soda.
